The website sellmymobile.com, which compares prices from numerous mobile recycling sites, has released research revealing that smart-phones are being re-sold in increasing numbers as owners look to combat personal debts following the festive season.
The figures show that there has been a 70 per cent increase in inquiries about mobile phone recycling since last year, while site traffic has also increased greatly throughout January. The most frequently recycled smart-phones are the iPhone 3GS, the Blackberry 8520 Curve and the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. There have also been 844 iPhone 4s sold, along with nine iPads.Keir McConomy, managing director of sellmymobile.com, said: "The fact that consumers are selling on iPhone 4s can mean only one thing: they need cash, and fast. There simply isn't a more desirable phone on the market, so the only possible explanation for their sudden re-sale popularity is that people really need an extra £360 in their pockets as the VAT hike bites."Vance Parsons, Group Sales Director for Pentagon (UK) Ltd said: “Anyone who is suffering ongoing cash-flow problems should consider discussing all the options available to them with a licensed Debt Advisor. These options may include a short term loan secured against an asset or maybe a debt management plan or IVA for a longer term solution."Manchester debt firm is liquidated owing creditors over £2.2m
